World Sports Tuesday, July 20th

Hello and thank you for joining us on World Sports, I'm Kim Young.

Ever since the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, soccer has become one of the biggest sports in Korea and the KFA may announce the new head of the Korea national team as early as Wednesday.

The Korean Football Association will meet at 10:30 am on Wednesday to discuss the matter of who will lead the Korea national team for the next four years.
There is "plan A" which is to choose from the five candidates including Choi Kang-hee, Cho Kwang-lae, Hwang Sun-hong, Kim Ho-gon and Jung Hae-sung and "plan B" which calls for a foreign coach.
The KFA does not have enough time to find a new foreign head coach and out of the five candidates, four have rejected the offer, leaving just Cho Kwang-lae up for the job and according to a Yonhapnews report, Cho received a phone call from the KFA confirming the decision which will be announced on Wednesday.
This pretty much means Cho will become the new head coach of Team Korea, filling the very big shoes left by Huh Jung-moo.

Michelle Kwan, who will be skating beside Kim Yu-na at the All That Skate Summer Ice Show beginning on the 23rd will surprise fans with something new just for the Korean audience.

Not just one but Kwan has prepared two new programs, one to Annie Lennox's Primitive and the second to Alicia Keys', No One.
Kwak Min-jung also will dazzle with a new program of her own, this one to Pachelbel's Canon in D major.

Two athletes from Korea took first and second place in the 10 meter Air Rifle Prone event at the 2010 International Paralympic Committee Shooting World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.
Jang Sung-won was on top with a total of 706.3 points, a new world record and won the gold medal while Shim Jae-yong scored 705.9 points for the silver.
Shim also won the team 10 meter Air Rifle Prone with Park Young-joon and set another world record with 1798 points for the the second gold medal.
Korea is currently leading overall standings with four golds, three silvers and two bronze medals.

At the 17th Women's Junior Handball World Championships, the Korea national team won their third victory in a row, this time against Croatia.
The national youth team has been the runner-up three times in the 1985, 1989, and 1991 tournaments, but has never topped the podium at the biennial event but seems to be on their way this time around.
Team Korea will face Argentina in round four on Wednesday.

Frenchman Thomas Voeckler won the 15th stage of the Tour de France while Andy Schleck lost his chain and the overall leader's yellow jersey.
The symbolic yellow jersey is now worn by Alberto Contador who is in the overall lead of the Tour.

Mayweather's camp did not respond to a deadline put in place by Pacquiao promoter Top Rank for exclusive negotiations, which has put what could be the richest fight in boxing history in doubt once more.
Pacquiao already has agreed to an equitable split of the earnings from the megafight, along with extensive drug testing.
The two sides nearly came to terms earlier this year, but the fight didn't happen then because Pacquiao was reticent about blood testing close to a fight.

I guess that's still up in the air.
That's all for sports, good night.

I Have Turned It Over

Postby IGTTO213 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 8:17 am

A woman said to her husband, “dear, look at our sheet! It"s too dirty. Would you like to wash it now?”
The man looked at the sheet and then thought for a while and then said, “I don"t think it"s necessary. We can turn the sheet over. Is that all right?”
